The seventh Peering Days attracted network specialists from all over the world to Zagreb
The seventh Peering Days event took place last week in Zagreb, Croatia. Representatives of peering nodes, ISPs and datacentre providers from all over the world now traditionally meet at this two-day event to share their experience and to discuss potential cooperation. The main organizers of this year's event were NIX.CZ (Czech Republic), VIX.at (Austria) and BIX.hu (Hungary), the local partner of the conference was Croatian CIX.
This event proved the increasing importance of Peering Days as a total of 170 participants from 25 countries arrived in Zagreb. The largest number of network managers and networking experts arrived from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Croatia and the UK, nevertheless representatives from Japan and the United States were present at the event as well.
Presentations, also available in PDF at the event website, were largely focused on Internet infrastructure security. You can read a detailed summary of day one and day two of the event on the industry server Root.cz.
Czech and Slovak network operators are preparing CSNOG 2019, the speakers may submit their proposals
The second yearly community meeting of network operators from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, CSNOG 2019, will this time, too, take place in Brno on May 28 and 29. The event is designed to enable professionals exchanging experience and sharing of practical solutions that can improve the quality of Czech and Slovak networks, and also express their views on current networking issues. People who want to give a presentation at CSNOG 2019 can submit their contributions on the web; the call for abstracts is open until March 20. The main organizers of CSNOG 2019 are CZ.NIC, NIX.CZ and CESNET.
“Last year’s event was attended by roughly 130 specialists on Internet networks, not only from the Czech Republic and Slovakia, but also from Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom or the United States. We firmly believe that this year we will again succeed in setting up a program that will interest both local and foreign experts. The Call for Abstracts is intended not only for applicants from the two Central European countries, but virtually for anyone. In particular, we will evaluate the expertise of the topic applied and how it benefits the participants of CSNOG 2019,” said the CZ.NIC CEO, Ondřej Filip on behalf of the Association.
“The CSNOG community meeting is not a restricted project, but rather an open platform for sharing the experience of ISPs, network operators, Internet engineers, but also those interested in Internet networks and technologies. Therefore, on behalf of the main organizers, I would like to invite all those who want to join the development of the Czech and Slovak community of network operators to reach out and expand our ranks. My appeal is mainly aimed at our Slovak colleagues. At last year’s event we had only a few contributions from our neighbors. We would be delighted to see more this year,” added Adam Golecký, director of the NIX.CZ Association, which also runs the NIX.SK project.
“We are glad to be part of the CSNOG open platform for sharing experience and good practice in the network operator community. I hope that the regular meeting of experts from the Czech Republic and Slovakia will become a long-term tradition,”* said Jan Gruntorád, director of the CESNET Association.
Proposals for contributions to the main program of CSNOG 2019 can be submitted until March 20. The submission form can be found on the event website. The abstracts can be in Czech, Slovak or English.
